Welcome to the Business Data Registry

This is a standards infrastructure for the naming of Business Data Units. This section of BEACON is the Business Data Register (BDR). At this stage only the English version is available, although provision has been made for 2,000 languages.

BEACON has at its core a standards library for Business and Industrial Object Classes. Each class contains the attributes which describe it and the methods, procedures, rules and formulae applicable to its use. Each class attribute, (known as a Universal Data Unit or UDU), is identified by a registration number with a Semantic Label (in each implemented language) which is self-describing. Each term in the Semantic label is a term in the Control Vocabulary (CV).

The Business Data Units (BDUs) contained in the BDR are UDUs placed in the contetext of a specific Business Process. These also are identified by a Semantic Label and a registration number. The semantic labels are composed of a series of CV terms separated by either a semicolon (:), indicating the context within a business process or period (.) separating the terms of a UDU. BDUs appear in the right hand frame.

Should there be any doubt as to the meaning of any CV term in a BDU Semantic label, use the copy facility on your browser and paste that term into the CV box. Its definition will appear in the left frame.

Whenever the BEACON Class libraries are updated, the BDR is automatically updated as well.

It is recommended you set your browser to use the full screen for the Business Data Register Enquiry.
